An ACO consists of patients who have traditional Medicare as their primary insurance (Parts A & B). Patients who are Dual Eligible (Medicare/Medicaid) are also included in the program. 

Patients should know:

• ACOs do not limit your original Medicare Benefits
• They have the right to choose any hospital or doctor that accepts Medicare, even if that doctor or hospital is NOT part of the ACO.
