Medical Director

Francesco Rotatori, MD, MBA, FACC was born and raised in Italy. He completed his Medical School in Milan and in the same city he obtained specialization in Cardiology at the Centro Cardiologico Monzino.

Subsequently he moved to New York City with his wife Susanna and together they have four children. After two years working in basic science research, he proceeded to obtain a full US training in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and finally Interventional Cardiology. During this time, he had the opportunity of working in a variety of hospitals in Brooklyn and Staten Island, under the Institution of SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

In 2014, he started his own private practice, with offices in different boroughs of New York City. Subsequently, in 2017 he joined Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, initially as Associate Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, then as Associate Chief of Cardiology and for the past three years as Chief and Director of the same department.

Since March of 2024 he has been appointed as Medical Director of Richmond Health Network. In this position he collaborates with other senior leadership in assuring the quality of the clinical services provided across over 180 physicians and helps defining strategies for further development.

He holds Board Certifications in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology granted by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). At RUMC, he provides a wide range of cardiology services from prevention to invasive treatment to thousands of patients from across the New York-New Jersey Metropolitan Area.

In 2021, he completed an executive MBA from the Quantum School of Business and Technology, and he has participated in numerous hospital performance initiatives. He is actively involved in RUMC’s Board Strategic Planning Committee as well as Hospital Quality.

Since 2023 he serves as President of the Medical Staff after 2 years as Vice President. In this role, he represents the interest of the entire medical staff at the board level.

He was recipient of the 2020 New York City Landmark Hero Award from the New York Landmark Conservancy for his frontline work during the COVID-19 pandemic and in 2022, received the President’s Business Award from the South Shore Rotary Club for his work in the community.
